Language course (no age limit) and Summer course (ages 15 – 20)
Language courses are typical no longer than 2 – 8 weeks maximum, although longer would be possible. We offer a variety of languages you can take a course in. English is obvious, but also Japanese, Korean, French and Spanish are available.
Language courses are often combined with tourist or cultural activities organised by the language schools.
Summer schools are mainly for language and cultural immersion where the focus more lies on fun and cultural exchange combined with enhancement in the language of the country where you go to.
Secondary School/High School (ages 12 – 17)
Secondary education refers to the stage of education that follows primary education and typically includes middle and high school education and vocational or technical training. Its main focus is to prepare students for further education or for entering college or the workforce.
Students learn various subjects such as English, other languages, science, technology, math, physical education, art, and music.
Several high schools, especially boarding schools, also organise summer programmes, not just for their own students, but also for international students. This way you can get a feel for what education in that country entails.
A Gap Year and summer courses
A Gap Year is typically meant for the age group just leaving high school and up.
A gap year, also known as a sabbatical year, is a period of time when students take a break from their studies, usually after completing high school or before beginning graduate school, engaging in a variety of educational and developmental activities, such as traveling, working, volunteering, or taking courses.
Summer camps/courses
The best international summer camps and courses extend the language-only model and include other options for students to enhance their language and culture studies, such as soccer clinics, surfing, and even SCUBA diving.
Universities and Colleges (ages 16 – 30)
The terms college, and university generally refer to postsecondary education or education after high school.
College is a two-year or four-year educational institution. Normally smaller than universities. Colleges offer certificates, associate’s degrees or bachelor’s degrees.
Short term programmes are often offered as part of your home study curriculum, where you earn points towards your home degree, but abroad. Sometimes short courses, offering a certtificate is also possible. Simply enquire after the possibilities.
