Lincoln Academy’s mission is to be a comprehensive high school that serves the needs of all students. This means that LA maintains a wide range of courses in all disciplines at all levels.  The majority of the students come from the local area.  However, the school has added a boarding program and is now also welcoming students from all over the world.

With a diverse offering of courses ranging from metal sculpture to AP Physics, from creative writing to AP English, and from laboratory to wood shop, Lincoln Academy provides a comprehensive education to students with a wide range of interests and goals.

We believe that students learn best in a safe and respectful environment that provides academic, social and emotional support. We strive to connect those in need with the resources and assistance necessary to fully access their education.

Residential Life at Lincoln Academy

Lincoln Academy boarding students come from 18 different countries: the United States and all over the world! We accept students grades 9 – 12 who fit our mission of being ‘grounded in community, global in vision, and open to new opportunities’.

At Lincoln Academy, Residential Life is an integral part of the student experience. Staff, students, and programming foster personal growth, independence, and a strong sense of community amongst residents of Kiah Bailey Hall. We encourage boarding students to fully engage in our vibrant campus life by discovering new interests, building lasting friendships, and making the most of their time at Lincoln Academy.

With activities, community events, and expectations that align with Lincoln Academy’s mission, the Residential Life experience provides a supportive and enriching environment for every boarding student.

Because Lincoln Academy is a ten minute walk from the twin villages of Newcastle and Damariscotta, students are able to sign out from campus and walk downtown. With at least six restaurants, dozens of shops, two small department stores, a theater, library and four churches within walking distance, our students are able to safely explore and shop anytime they are free.

The beautiful downtown area is a tourist destination and hosts lively events throughout the year; Pumpkinfest, Pirate Day, Oyster Festivals, Holiday Shopping parties and Art Walks are wonderful attractions for students and visitors. Below are a few organizations that promote community engagement, volunteerism, academic growth and cultural understanding.
