Cambridge High School shared the following visa news from the New Zealand Immigration services.
New Zealand is approaching a peak period for student visa applications and reminding students to apply 3 months before they intend to study.
The next peak period runs from October 2025 to March 2026 for the 2026 study year, and student visa processing will be a priority during this time. Applying 3 months before their intended travel date gives students the best chance to have a decision made in time for their study.
Offshore students who apply earlier can receive an approval in principle, allowing them to provide confirmation of study, funds transfers and tuition fee payment closer to the time.
Students who started a draft application on or before 17 August 2025 are in the old visa system. If they didn't submit and pay for their application on or before 17 September 2025 their draft application is expired, and they will need to start again on the new Immigration New Zealand's platform.
Immigration New Zealand has published new website guidance to help students apply with the information and evidence we need to make a decision quickly. This includes a new page on student funds requirements. They will continue to add country specific information as required.
If you use StudyGroup's services to apply for education in New Zealand, you will be furnished with the complete new guidlines from Immigration New Zealand once you need to apply for a study visa.
